About
Maguire Iron Company has been selling handcrafted hardware from Kirkpatrick starting in 1975 in Southern California. Specializing in cast iron hardware, Maguire Iron Company has since changed its base of operations to Nevada and continues to be the authorized U.S. Distributor for Kirkpatrick.
In addition to our full line of cast iron hardware, Maguire Iron Company offers a comprehensive line of antique style hardware in pewter and armor bright finishes, compatible locks and other accessories needed for a full functional installation. With the exception of a few items such as antiqued American standard butt hinges and kick plates, Kirkpatrick, Ltd. Foundry in Walsall, England produces many of the ironworks. Maguire Iron Company stocks many of the iron forgings and locks in varying quantities with semi-custom modifications available.
When looking at purchasing cast iron hardware, some things to consider with the manufacture of new products of iron hardware is that hand forged and wrought iron hardware are the same. Wrought iron is a process where the iron is hammered, rolled or shaped while hot. Cast iron is made of iron that is heated and poured into a cast or mold. Something to note, true wrought iron products are generally no longer produced, and the name is often used to describe items like gates, rails and cabinet hardware, that are generally made of steel with a black finish. Another misconception is that all cast iron hardware is the same.Kirkpatrick iron hardware is made from malleable iron, making it stronger and more durable than many alternatives.
If you are looking for rustic, authentic iron hardware that will last, look to Maguire Iron Company’s line of products to create an old world style.
